Hi YA. Fellow Dieters! I have a fishy question for you all. I am not much of a fish eater. Not because I do not like it, but because I have not really tried it. ( besides fish sticks). I know it is a healty food, and was wondering a good kind to try ,grilled or baked.

Hiya phil!!! (lol ) I don't know a lot about fish, but I do know there are some kinds that are pretty fatty (? greasy? oily?). I used to have a bunch of healthy recipe cards, and the one fish recipe I tried called for cod. It was pretty tasty too... not overpowering like some fish can be. Not a lot of information, but somewhere to start from.

COD.. Ok.. I will look up some recipes. I do not like "fishy fishy" tasting things. If I could find something that did not taste like I just took a shot of frikin sardines.. that would be great.
I did try catfish once, and HATED IT.
But maybe with enough spices added, It would not be such a fishy taste..

Remember though, even though a fish may be fatty like Salmon and Tuna can be, those fats are the good kinds, and actually help to keep our cholesteral levels in check, as opposed to the fats in red meats and butter etc. Fish can be divine when prepared in a red tomato sauce, like for spaghetti for instance. Dijon mustard on Salmon is surprisingly yum, and fun if you like that zip. Then there's the smoked salmon deal, or Salmon Tartar in salads, very tastey, though perhaps too European for some folks . Check out some recipes for Fish Soup too, lotsa neat tastes in those. Many fishes (especially the ones that don't have a strong taste), are great with any sauce you favor, and will take on those flavors no problemo, so be creative in a lo-fat way and the 'fish is your oyster', so to speak. There is a salad in France that is on near every lunch time menu, called "Salad Nicoise", and if you haven't heard of it, it's quite an adventure in tastes, containing not only canned tuna, but black olives, red patats, green beans, tomato, hard-boiled egg, capers and of course all the usual lettuce suspects. Normally served with a simple vinagrette, it's a fun way to jazz up a diet.

We often have our fish that way, Jess. SO easy, and really, damned good, IMO.

I used to hate fish! I've since grown to like it. I like Orange Rougby, it doesn't taste fishy at all. Tuna steaks are another favorite of mine. You can cook either by grilling, in the oven, on the stove. They are both very verastile fish.
