It's a good indication of how fit a person is, and can be measured simply by clocking the number of beats you have, (either on your wrist or jug. vein), within a 10 second timeframe, then x by 6.
I've read that it's most accurate to measure this rate in the morning, before the coffee, before getting outta bed even, but it seems that I can NEVER remember to do it then.
It's 4:30pm here, and I just clocked mine at 60bpm, (which would really SUCK if I were a song! ; ).
How 'bout you guys?

Averages range between 60-80, depending on age.
I just actually remembered to do mine whilst IN the nest this morning and got a consistent reading of 54 BPM, 3 times in-a-row.
At 36 years old, that's pretty spanky. ;D

that is pretty spanking, since my metabolic supplements keep me in the 80-range. I use them to stave off the natural desire to sleep during the week - i get about 5-6 in a good night, 4-5 average Mon-Fri...

On the subject of spanky-ness, last night while blabbin' with my cher papa on the phone, I was quite impressed to learn that his resting heartrate is but 56bpm. He's 65 now, and I gotta say that hearing that number was music to the ole ears here, as sometimes, just realizing that our folks are aging, and for me, being so far away from them is kinda tough.
