Very short article, but some valuable information in the few lines! www.healthday.com/Article.asp?AID=600867(HealthDay News) -- If you're in the habit of skipping breakfast, studies show you should rethink your morning routine.
Eating breakfast has health benefits and can help manage your weight, according to Rutland Regional Medical Center in Vermont.
Here's what the research indicates:
- Breakfast is linked to a lower body mass, compared to people who skip the meal.
- Breakfast is shown to reduce a person's risk of obesity and insulin resistance.
- Breakfast is one of the few proven strategies to maintaining long-term weight loss.
- Breakfast is shown to improve grades and behavior among school children.

Hi..
I suppose the first meal of the day is breaking the fast from the night before, but for me that is likely to happen at around noon. I cannot LOOK at food when I first get out of bed! It is abhorrent, disgusting, gross, whatever is on the plate. By mid-morning, I can face food. This makes for an interesting mealtime schedule when my husband and I are on the road. He can eat the flowers off the plate first thing. I do well to choke down a cup of weak tea. By mid-morning, I am ready to stop and eat. He is still stuffed from breakfast. We cannot get it together.
Hey.. I think this site will be helpful to me.. since I have to watch my weight.
Muriel!

Hi, Muriel, and welcome!
I eat breaky--never used to, but for about 6 years now I've been at it. Nothing monumental in proportions, but effectual--and since I've been on the fatloss-train, always healthy. Needless to type, it's PLENTY appreciated during my usual hour long post-breaky-workouts each day.

I never used to eat breakfast either. Well, unless it was the occasional diet soda and pack of M&M's. When I was on Nutrisystem (an eon ago) I found that it made my day run a lot smoother. I had the energy to get through a busy morning and make it easily to a late lunch. I've been hooked since... although sometimes it does take me a while to get geared up for it. Sometimes up to about 2 hours.
